At a ceremony in Galashiels, Major Fraser, who served with the King's Own Scottish Borderers for 38 years (1945-1983), was presented with the SSAFA long service medal by Sir David Younger, President of the Borders branch. Ken joined SSAFA as a volunteer in 1986 and during his time has helped more than 300 veterans and their families.
Ken is one of many longstanding volunteers who have dedicated a huge amount to SSAFA and our beneficiaries. Last year, our 7,060 strong team of volunteers gave 1,431,250 combined hours of their time to help our Armed Forces family. We want to celebrate our dedicated volunteers, and all they do for SSAFA and the beneficiaries we support. Thanks to them, we were able to make 36,208 cases and visits to beneficiaries, and in total help 61,155 people through our charitable services.
