SSAFA volunteers recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours

Our congratulations to SSAFA volunteers who have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for their work.


SSAFA volunteers recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours

SSAFA would like to congratulate those who have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for their work.

The following volunteers from the SSAFA family were included in the list:

Susan Hughes, Branch Secretary for SSAFA Gwynedd, has been awarded an MBE for her work in developing the branch and in developing working relationships across North Wales.

Col David Hill, Branch Chairman for SSAFA West Midlands North, has been awarded an MBE for his work with SSAFA since 2001 and particularly his work in representing his branch to improve its awareness and fundraising.

Nicola Clarke receives an MBE for establishing the Military Wives Choir and taking the concept forward to become part of the SSAFA’s welfare support for serving families. The choirs now total 3000 members and have achieved international success.

Norman Young, is awarded the BEM for his work as Chairman of the SSAFA Gosport, Fareham and Portsmouth Service Committee. Norman has done some amazing fundraising work for SSAFA including trekking Nepal and works endless to promote the committee and its work.

Katherine Hull, Branch Secretary of SSAFA Leicester and Rutland, receives the BEM for developing the branch and supporting it through a time of change.
