SSAFA volunteers and staff receive Prince Michael of Kent Awards

SSAFA volunteers and staff were celebrated at the charity’s annual members meeting attended by SSAFA President, HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

Two staff and two volunteers received Prince Michael of Kent Awards, recognising their hard work and dedication in support of SSAFA.

MAcr Marcus Burton, Chairman of the SSAFA Service Committee at RAF Benson, received his award for boosting the committee funds by 300% and for showing exceptional leadership skills in growing the number of volunteers. Also receiving an award was Mrs Petra Swift for her voluntary work supporting families in Paderborne Garrison, part of British Forces Germany particularly during deployments.

Awards were also made to Michael Turner and Patrick Hogan, the managers of the two SSAFA Norton Homes. The homes provide a place for the families of injured service personnel to stay while they are undergoing treatment at either Headley Court in Surrey or the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, Birmingham.
