SSAFA Northumberland is to hold a fundraising flower festival that is to run from Friday the 1st to Sunday the 3rd of July 2016. It is to be held in the grand and lavish State Rooms of Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland to raise funds for SSAFA.
The Duchess (The Northumberland Branch President) has kindly donated a number of tickets, which will allow entry to the castle and the State Rooms. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to SSAFA.
Around 50 volunteer flower arrangers, from around the region will be putting their artistic heads together to create over 30 large displays throughout the nine State Rooms.
The largest display will be in the Upper Guard Chamber in memory of the Battle of the Somme. The festival starts on the centenary of the first day of the battle when there were almost 60,000 casualties on that day alone – some of those casualties and many of the bereaved families will have received help and support from SSAFA.
A limited number of tickets are available and are very reasonable priced at only £10 each. The tickets can only be ordered online at: http://www.jumblebee.co.uk/ssafa-northumberland
