SSAFA Fundraisers take on "The Great Outdoors Challenge"

Coast to coast backpacking adventure to raise valuable funds for SSAFA Hamphire branch

Over the period 10 May - 25 May 2018 WO1 Clive Cooper and SSgt Rob Leech of 11 Inf Bde SPS Branch will be taking part in "The Great Outdoors Challenge".  This is a self-supported trek from the Westside of Scotland (Mallaig to Johnshaven) a distance of approximately 260 miles.

"The Great Outdoors Challenge" is a self-supported Coast to Coast backpacking adventure.  In essence, it is about experiencing the remote parts of Scotland you can only reach by foot.  Wild camping is a large part of the experience.  Clive and Rob will be looking to cover 20-26 miles per day and stopping every 3rd day at campsites or small villages en route to resupply rations, water and use the conveniences!

Clive Cooper has been volunteering with SSAFA Aldershot as a Caseworker for over a year now and hopes his challenge will help raise awareness of SSAFA and what we do for serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces.
