Brave fundraiser shaves her head to raise money for SSAFA

Stephanie Scott has raised over £900 for SSAFA after shaving her head before joining the army later this year.

Last Saturday, Stephanie Scott had her first haircut in over 8 years, and very bravely completely shaved her head for charity. Following her decision to join the Army later this year, she was inspired to so something extreme to raise valuable money for the charity, and has so far raised nearly £1,000 for SSAFA.

A regular fundraiser for the Armed Forces community, Stephanie has raised money doing various sporting challenges and events, but wanted to take it one step further. As well as having a strong military background, with family who have served in the Armed Forces, Steph’s best friend is also a mental health nurse with experience working with veterans, hence her choice to fundraise for SSAFA.

As Steph said, ‘I really admire the work that SSAFA does to support the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Our Forces’ guys and girls put their lives on the line for us and make huge sacrifices for our country. Although we often read about veterans who have been physically injured in combat, you don’t hear as much about the other ways in which our service men and women and their families are struggling.’
