World War 100

WORLD WAR 100

Commemorating 100 years since the First World War

At the outbreak of the First World War, the Government called on SSAFA to take care of the families of soldiers going to the Front. After five months, SSAFA had paid out more than £1m from the National Relief Fund that we administered and we had 50,000 volunteers.

SSAFA is the UK's oldest military charity and was the go-to charity to help Forces families during the war. Today, we help over 67,000 people a year. There then, here now.

You can join us in commemorating the centenary by attending one of our events, taking on a challenge event, browsing our original 1914-1918 records, buying a limited edition WW1-themed product, fundraising, donating or volunteering.
