Local veteran keeps on running

14 October 2021

Paul Wilcock, 51, from Chippenham has already completed some of the world’s most famous runs yet he still has more to come. After completing the London Marathon 2021, Paul is due to run the Great South Run on the 17th of October then the Newport Marathon on the 24th of October; with the Reading Half Marathon on the 7th of November all in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Paul, a former member of the Royal Corps of Signals, now works as a Senior Project Management Consultant at SA Group – a business management consultancy based in Westbury, Wiltshire. The company has recently been awarded the Gold Employer Recognition Scheme Award by the Armed Forces Covenant and continues to support veterans with their ongoing careers.

Paul decided to raise money for SSAFA after remembering how the charity supported his mother. He said: “My Father was REME. SSAFA supported my mother in the past. She used to talk fondly of the work SSAFA did to support her and her family.”

Paul also commented on his post London Marathon experience and said, “The support out on the course, especially at the 25-mile point, gave a welcome boost and it was so good to be able to meet people I had only communicated with electronically or by phone at the post race reception."
