95 year old Ian takes delivery of EPV

22 December 2020

World War Two veteran Ian Munn was finding it hard to get around. Still living independently, and having just celebrated his 95th birthday, Ian had only recently given up riding his bicycle and needed a new means of transport.  Unable to walk very far, lack of mobility was hampering his independent spirit.

With the help of Ian’s niece Samantha, SSAFA Wiltshire caseworker Rick Owen worked with the Royal British Legion and The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust to secure the funds to purchase an Electrically Propelled Vehicle (EPV).

Ian served in the Pacific and the Far East during a long and honourable service, but is very modest about his service and reluctant to wear his medals or take part in Remembrance events.  We are always humbled by the resilience and humility of many of the older veterans we help, and were delighted to be able to help Ian get out and about once more.
