Community Volunteers

Our Community Volunteers are there to give a helping hand to people in their local service community.

About the role

You might be helping someone to get to a hospital appointment or making visits to a family who has been left isolated by deployment. You will usually work on your local base or station.

We’re looking for people who can offer some friendly support and a listening ear. Here are just some of the ways that you could help:

  • Practical support such as providing transport to local hospitals and elsewhere
  • Visiting isolated and lonely families when a spouse is deployed
  • Supporting the bereaved and helping estranged families
  • Befriending those who need someone to listen and when necessary putting them in touch with someone else who can help
  • Giving advice to newlyweds, who may be unfamiliar with service life
  • Assisting those leaving the Armed Forces, who may be anxious about resettlement into civilian life.

You’ll be carefully trained and prepared to take on your role. You will also work together with your local community volunteer coordinator.

This rewarding role is an opportunity to offer your time to benefit those in your local Armed Forces community, as well as to develop new skills and meet some inspirational people.
