Role: Caseworker

SSAFA clients are usually former service men and women living locally. Caseworkers often visit clients at home or somewhere convenient in the local community. During these visits they discuss any support that might be needed. Once the Caseworker has assessed these needs, they will then help to get the right support to meet those needs,. For example, the client may need to get their home adapted to make it more accessible following an injury, or to receive funding for retraining for a new career outside the military.

Volunteering with SSAFA is special because you get to see first-hand the difference you make to people's lives. As a Caseworker, you might link in with other agencies that are providing services or refer your client to an organisation that can provide specialist help like financial advice or mental health support. However, you will remain the touchpoint for your client for as long as they need you.

As part of a team of dedicated SSAFA volunteers, you will be supported and trained to use our secure computer systems and there are lots of people available to provide specific advice and expertise.

This rewarding volunteer role is an opportunity to offer your time and commitment to benefit those in your community, as well as to develop new skills and meet some inspirational people.
