Openreach and SSAFA have worked toghether since 2015. We became their first main charity partner and have seen the partnership grow year on year.

With over 32,000 staff, Openreach looks after the fibres, wires and cables that connect tens of millions of homes and businesses to phone, broadband, data and TV services. Openreach has recruited over 2,000 ex-service personnel over the last few years and their partnership helps fund our confidential helpline ‘Forcesline’, ensuring we are there whenever we’re needed by someone in the Armed Forces family.

Openreach employees have raised more than £160,000 through different fundraising events since the partnership was launched in April 2015, as well as assisting SSAFA through volunteering time and expertise. In 2017 we launched our first overseas challenege event of the partnership with 12 employees trekking across the lava fields of Iceland to raise funds and awareness for SSAFA.

“SSAFA is a fantastic charity fulfilling a hugely important role at the heart of the military community.

“Like Openreach, SSAFA has strong and trusted relationships with communities across Britain, and they share our desire to give service men and women the support they deserve, wherever and whenever they need it.

“Thousands of ex-military people and reservists are playing a vital role in our mission to build Britain’s connected future, and we’re proud that our military ties have become even stronger through our partnership with SSAFA.”
