VE Day 75 Concert at the Royal Albert Hall

13 November 2019

On Friday 8 May 2020, exactly 75 years to the day, the Royal Albert Hall will host a special concert of commemoration and celebration to mark ‘Victory In Europe’ Day, one of history’s most significant dates.

The Second World War represented the greatest conflict the world had ever seen and VE Day 75 will honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany, while at the same time celebrating the victory for Britain and its allies.

Featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, plus very special guests, VE Day 75 will be a concert of epic, stirring and emotional music from some of the greatest British composers – from Elgar’s Nimrod to Walton’s Spitfire Prelude & Fugue; from Holst’s Planet Suite to Ron Goodwin’s Battle Of Britain Theme.

We are delighted to announce that SSAFA will be the official charity for this important event and we hope that you will join us for an inspiring and patriotic evening featuring the best of British as we commemorate VE Day 75. Tickets are on sale at the Royal Albert Hall's website here.

Please note, Friday 8 May will be a special bank holiday, dedicated to VE Day and our surviving WW2 veterans.

By attending this event, you will be helping us to continue our support for those currently serving, regulars and Reservists, in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force, veterans and military families, as well as veterans from the Merchant Navy.

This could be our last opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the veterans of the Second World War. Let us never forget the heroes who gave their lives for us and for future generations. We owe it to them to responsibly cherish those liberties they fought for.

- Randolph Churchill, great-grandson of Winston Churchill
