The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee - 2022

13 November 2020

A special four-day Bank Holiday weekend has been announced to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

To create the four-day weekend in June 2022, the late May Spring Bank Holiday that year will be moved to Thursday 2 June and an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3 June will be created.

On Feb 6 2022, the Queen will have reigned as monarch for 70 years - the first time a British sovereign will have been on the throne for seven decades.

Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity said: “The Platinum Jubilee of SSAFA’s Patron, Her Majesty The Queen’s accession to the throne on 6th February 2022 will rightly be celebrated the world over. Given the challenges many people have faced due to Covid-19 in 2020, the announcement of an extended holiday and a series of events in June 2022 is most welcome; it will be positive for the Nation and for the many charities, such as SSAFA, that Her Majesty supports.

“Over Her Majesty’s reign, our country has seen many challenges and it is a testament to the British people that in the face of conflicts, terrorist campaigns and now the pandemic we rally and we have and will continue to overcome adversity. God Save the Queen.”
