Take on London's only Armed Forces Day event this June with SSAFA

26 April 2021

Celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday 26 June by taking on the 13 Bridges Challenge, and raise money for SSAFA.

London’s only Armed Forces Day event, in partnership with Fujitsu, Corps Security and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, will take participants on a 10-mile walk through Greater London, exploring the 13 bridges that connect the city.

Starting at Tower Bridge, the event will finish at Eel Brook Common after the final bridge, Battersea Bridge, is crossed. Participants will be supported throughout by volunteers from the local Armed Forces community and there will also be an area at the finish line for refreshments and photo opportunities.

The event will take place on Saturday 26 June and requires a £50 fundraising target per person which will go to SSAFA to help them continue to provide vital support to the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.

SSAFA supporter and Coronation Street Actor Antony Cotton said: “Now more than ever, our Veterans and service personnel, both old and young, need our help and support. Like everyone in this great country of ours, this pandemic has affected the military community profoundly and so it is with great honour and privilege that I’m joining the 13 Bridges Challenge”

Sir Andrew Gregory, SSAFA's Controller, said: “Armed Forces Day is a time to thank servicemen and women for their selfless commitment to our Nation. The last year has been a challenging for all, but especially for those in our Armed Forces who, in addition to continuing overseas deployments and other security tasks, have been on a new frontline - the fight against Covid, especially building Nightingale hospitals, running test and vaccine centres and providing vital logistics.

"Some of those individuals and families need our support during and after their military service; SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity fills that need. The 13 Bridges Challenge – London’s only Armed Forces Day event – is an excellent opportunity to get together and raise money for SSAFA. Thank you for your generosity.”

Please feel free to call our Forcesline if you need any support.
