SSAFA Superheroes spring into action for RAF Nurse

09 July 2019

3 May 2019

Situated adjacent to one of the areas of married quarters, the nursery provides the pre-school facility to over 90 children from the RAF Cosford and the local community. Each child was presented with an Easter goodie bag containing a SSAFA Bear, balloon, stickers, and a Cadburys Easter Egg kindly donated by Richard Jenkins, Contract Manager, RAF Cosford, ESS Defence, by Batman, Spiderman, and a Ninja Turtle, along with other dedicated members of the committee.

WO Dickson, Chair of the Committee, aka Batman explains the task is a large undertaking and will be completed over a four week period (29 April – 23 May) predominately in the evenings, due to the nursery remaining open during the period. Although the committee will play an integral part, financing, planning, and painting, this awareness event is to encourage parents/ helpers to sign up and give an hour of their time to pick up a brush and assist the team.

A similar sign-up event was held for RAF Cosford permanent staff the day before, with volunteers comprising of parents, RAF Cosford staff and students currently amounting to around 40 spread throughout the period. A true whole force effort involving every corner of the station and beyond, which will enhance the nursery for years to come, a project we feel embraces the true ethos of SSAFA.

Please feel free to call our Forcesline if you need any support.
