SSAFA Merseyside Branch volunteer, Ken Orme, has been awarded the Sir James Gildea Award.
SSAFA’s Sir James Gildea Awards were created to recognise volunteers and employees for their exceptional contribution and commitment to SSAFA’s activities and values.
Ken Orme has volunteered for SSAFA for 25 years after retiring from 22 years of exemplary service in the Army and Army Reserves. He started his career in the Welsh Guards before serving in the Army Reserves in the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Mental Health Nurse.
Ken Orme, currently sitting as SSAFA Merseyside's Vice-President, said: “It is so important to me to support those who have put everything on the line for us to sit in perfect luxury and peace. That’s what we do it for. It is an honour to receive the Sir James Gildea Award.”
Malcolm Ranson, SSAFA Merseyside Branch Treasurer, said: “Ken has done some tremendous, sterling work for SSAFA. I hope to present to Ken on the 25 of June for 25 years of service to SSAFA.”
