SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity are delighted to announce that the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund has pledged to donate £170,000 in three grants to support SSAFA’s Casework, Forcesline and Norton House over the next three years.

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund has awarded an £80,000 grant over one year for SSAFA’s Casework and a further £30,000 for Forcesline and Norton House services over the next three years. The £30,000 grant is broken down as £20,000 to Forcesline and £10,000 to Norton House each year, totalling an incredible £90,000 over the next three years.

Last year, SSAFA’s casework service supported 35,819 cases, with 3,901 beneficiaries supported from the RAF families through casework in 2018. This new funding ensures that members of the RAF family will be supported in their time of need.

This most generous grant from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is an example of our joint commitment to supporting members of the RAF family.  Their commitment to SSAFA over the next three years is a humbling reminder of the partnership and collaboration that exists across the military charities to ensure those in need across the Armed Forces community receive the support they require.

The donations, spread over the next three years, will go toward our Casework, Forcesline and Norton House services that support serving personnel, veterans and their families, in the process building their independence and dignity.

- Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity

As the RAF’s oldest friend, the RAF Benevolent Fund has worked for the past 100 years to ensure no member of the RAF Family faces adversity alone. This is recognised by the significant funding we have designated for SSAFA.

Our partners are all experts in their individual fields, providing the specialist care needed to support the entire RAF Family to overcome the challenges that they face. SSAFA is no exception and in particular, the charity’s expert caseworkers who often provide the vital link between the Fund and our beneficiaries.

- Air Vice-Marshal David Murray, Chief Executive, RAF Benevolent Fund
