RNRMC awards over £25,000 to SSAFA

02 July 2020

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has awarded £25,875 to support SSAFA’s Mentoring Service, which provides long-term, one-to-one support for service leavers.

The grant will support the work of SSAFA’s Mentoring Service team, as they continue to help motivate, support and empower service leavers to fulfil their potential in their new lives outside the military.

The service was established in 2019 to help those who have recently left the forces, and their families to succeed in their often-daunting transition to civilian life. SSAFA’s committed mentors help their assigned mentees to feel motivated, supported and resilient as they become increasingly empowered to make the move from the military environment they have become so accustomed to.

The grant was provided through The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity’s ‘Helping Hands’ grant programme. It provides continuity from previous funding presented by the charity towards the service in 2019.

We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant from The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and for their unwavering support of SSAFA. The funds will enable us to provide critical support to members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines community during their transition to maximise the full potential of their new lives.

- Jonathan Sandall, Director of Fundraising, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity
The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is pleased to develop its partnership with SSAFA, helping to provide vital support to our joint beneficiaries during a crucial period in their lives. We hope that this grant will continue to allow Royal Navy and Royal Marines leavers to transition successfully into civilian life.
