Pro Boxer fundraises for SSAFA

11 December 2020

Pro boxer and veteran Perry Howe will be taking part in the first ever UK drive-in boxing match on 11 December to raise money for SSAFA!

Perry served in the Royal Engineers, joining up at age 16 and serving for 5 and a half years.

When he transitioned into civilian life he fell on hard times, resulting in him separating from his wife and daughter and becoming homeless.

Perry Howe said: “I was living homeless in the woods. It was dark times, but my military experience got me through.”

SSAFA helped Perry find a flat and furniture and got Perry on the right path that led him where he is today, competing in his third professional boxing match.

Perry Howe said: “SSAFA probably saved my life. Once I told people, it got better.”

Perry wants to give back and has been raising money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity for the past few months by selling his boxing merchandise with the ‘in support of SSAFA’ logo. £1 of every purchase will go towards the charity.

He has also raffled off tickets for his shows in support of SSAFA and will continue to fundraise, accumulating these efforts until D-Day 2021 when he hopes to donate £2,000 to SSAFA.

Perry Howe Said: “A lot of veterans don’t release they are entitled to help. You have served your country, you have signed on that dotted line, don’t be too proud to ask.”

Perry will be fighting at 6.30pm, 11 December. You can tune into Euro Sports after Perry’s fight at 19.00.
