27 November 2020

On 11th November 2020 State Ceremonial Music of the Household Division released the World Premiere Recording of Cenotaph Requiem, to commemorate the Centenary of the unveiling of The Cenotaph and the burial of The Unknown Soldier in Westminster Abbey on 11th November 1920. 100% of proceeds of sales of the recording of Cenotaph Requiem are being donated to Service Charities, on Friday, 27th November SSAFA is the beneficiary charity.

Lt General Sir Andrew Gregory, CEO of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity said: “The centenary of the unveiling of the Cenotaph and the internment of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey has caused the Nation to reflect again on the service and sacrifice of those in its Armed Forces and how that also affects families and communities.  SSAFA provided critical assistance to those in need in 1920, just as we are doing today, including dealing with the consequences of the pandemic.

“The Cenotaph Requiem is a poignant means of commemorating those who have given so much. We thank both the State Ceremonial Musicians of the Bands of the Household Division for their commitment and also you for your support to SSAFA; collectively, this will enable us to help those most at need in our community.”
