Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust supports SSAFA

05 June 2020

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust has awarded Age UK partners just over £1.1 million in funding to support older veterans with their Covid-19 response over the next six months. As a result, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has received £30,000 of this funding to support older veterans during the crisis.

The £30,000 funding will be distributed amongst SSAFA divisions and branches, each receiving up to £500 each to assist with additional case work in supporting older veterans during the Covid-19 crisis.

Age UK have been working in partnership with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity for the last three years through the programme Joining Forces. The programme has been extremely successful and has ensured that many older veterans, and their family and carers, have received help and support using the expert skills and knowledge of both organisations.

The funding from the Trust has enabled Age UK and SSAFA to work together again in response to Covid-19 and to make a huge difference at a crucial and difficult time.
