£10,000 grant from Seafarer's UK

08 July 2019

4 April 2019

Seafarers UK has been supporting SSAFA for over ten years, with the most recent grant of £10,000 going towards our casework service. Through casework, we provide welfare advice and support to serving personnel, veterans and their families. Led by our network of specially trained volunteer caseworkers we provide face-to-face personalised support, identifying people’s needs and helping them to access any support they require in their community.

The generous £10,000 donation has helped to provide training for new caseworkers, and refresher courses for those already providing this valuable service.

SSAFA's caseworkers not only exist to relieve need, suffering and distress amongst the Armed Forces, veterans and their families in order to support their independence and dignity but also, through Seafarers UK’s funding, support Merchant Navy seafarers and their dependents in need.  A great network of volunteers that covers the UK.’

– Deborah Layde, Grants Director, Seafarers UK
Our partnership with Seafarers UK is a long-standing example of how much can be achieved with collaboration and a mutual goal of supporting our Armed Forces community. SSAFA is dedicated to supporting the entire maritime military family, along with the Army and RAF. This latest donation is directly contributing to our training of new caseworkers – who will work across the country to deliver tailored support to any serving personnel, veteran or family member when in need. We are enormously grateful to Seafarers UK for their generosity and continued partnership.
