SSAFA volunteer Ann MacDougall receives her CBF Cyprus Commendation

In honour of her achievements, we have printed below Ann's citation for her award, detailing all the time and effort she puts into her role in Cyprus.
'Ann has been a SSAFA Community Volunteer for 13years prior to Community Volunteers being included in the SSAFA Contract. For the last three and a half years she has been a member of the SSAFA team as the Coordinator. The volunteers are an integral part of the contract and deliver a quality service to the serving personnel and entitled persons in Cyprus. Her remit is island wide.
Ann works hard and is a dedicated worker working over and above her remit. She is constantly looking at ways to support people that are struggling with living in Cyprus and helps to promote a positive lifestyle. Her range of activities include and is not exhaustive befriending, transport to hospital, supporting parents when children are on Child Protection Plans and Child in Need, being heavily involved in the Early Help agenda, surrogate grandparents, befriending role for adults whether single or married. Utilising volunteer skill sets in substance and alcohol misuse, debt crisis, bereavement, gambling addiction. Ann is also instrumental in delivering Appropriate Adult Service.
Ann supports many Command events across island and plays a key role in supporting activities in order to promote the Cyprus Offer.
In 2010 Ann recognised that whilst Young Achievers had been held in Germany for many years there was no such event in Cyprus so she lead and implemented the Young Achievers Awards process in Cyprus. She is the organiser and promoter of this extremely worthwhile and valued event and spends many hours encouraging her comprehensive network of contacts to support the process and award ceremony and maximises the use a range of skilled command personnel and volunteers to deliver I a professional and well respected event.
We are now in our 7th year and currently Cyprus has become the only Command that hosts this event. The feedback from parents and children is always very positive and the event is welcomed and looked forward to as a highlight for the families involved which has included families travelling back to Cyprus at their own expensive in order to participate. There are plans to replicate the event in the UK such is the respect it holds.
Ann has had a varied career having held senior positions in the finance and legal world and is highly regard by all whom have to pleasure of working with or alongside her.
She looks for no recognition or credit she quietly goes about her day to day work demonstrating every day her real commitment to and passion for ensuing that she and her team are able to make a difference to the life of the families in Cyprus she supports.'
