Ex RAF pilot Jim Sawyer recognised for 25 years service as a volunteer caseworker

82 year old Mr Sawyer is among the two longest serving caseworkers at SSAFA, who combined have amassed 45 years of loyal and notable service. At the recent annual meeting of the Lincolnshire branch of SSAFA - held at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa - Mr Sawyer was presented with a special long service certificate by Air Marshall Sir Dusty Miller, president of the Royal Air Force Association.

Following a distinguished career, flying planes such as the Phantom, ex RAF pilot Mr Sawyer says he is now motivated by the need to support men and women who have given service to their country and require help and assistance. He has devoted endless hours on behalf of SSAFA, and believes that during his 25 years as a caseworker he has supported around 175 cases. His contribution to the charity and to the servicemen and women he has helped is an inspiration.
