SSAFA's RAF Benson In-Service Committee have opened a new ‘Bumps to Tots’ outdoor play area.
The £15,000 project was the culmination of a year of fundraising by station personnel along with donations from the Oxfordshire Branch of SSAFA. It will provide an all-weather, maintenance free facility for ‘Bumps to Tots’, a self help group that supports parents and children from pre birth to age 3.
The play area was officially opened by Wing Commander Colin West, Chief of Staff RAF Benson and all those who contributed to the project were invited to see what their donations had funded.
Outgoing Chairman of the RAF Benson SSAFA In Service Committee, Marcus Burton said “this superb new facility is testament to the inspirational fundraising efforts of personnel at RAF Benson, many of whom have run, swam, cycled and kayaked the length and breadth of Britain to raise money for the project. It also cements our excellent relationship with SSAFA Oxfordshire and will provide an important focal point in supporting parents with young children at RAF Benson.”
