SSAFA is chosen charity for tri-service cricket tournament

SSAFA has been announced as the chosen charity partner of the hotly-contested Inter Services Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2014 (IST20 2014), which will take place at the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground on 3 June 2014.

Now in its fifth year, the triangular fixture will see the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force battle it out once again for the gleaming trophy at what has become one of the main highlights in the cricket fixture list.

The event is an occasion for all ages, offering the chance to witness three games of high quality cricket, all in one day. Competition is fierce and past experience has shown that it can produce some truly nail-biting moments. This year, for the first time, the day will include a ladies match with the ladies Combined Services team playing the MCC ladies on the Nursery Ground.

David Ashman, SSAFA Trustee said, “We are delighted to have been chosen as the official Charity of the Inter-Services Twenty20 Tournament and to be part of such a celebrated and well known event.”

“The fact this is a tri-service event sits right at the heart of what SSAFA does. We support all members of the Armed Forces, both regulars and reserves, and their families from across the entire military community. Our connection with events like this goes a long way in letting the families of our service personnel know that we exist and we are here to help.”

Ticket purchasing and information is available now at www.interservicest20.co.uk. Join us as one of the first to purchase tickets and show your support and appreciation. The tournament promised both a great day’s cricket and a celebration of our Armed Forces.
