Ayrshire choral community joins forces to raise vital funds for local Armed Forces community

On Saturday 23rd April, choristers from across all 26 secondary schools in Ayrshire will be teaming up with the West of Scotland Military Wives Choir and the award winning North Ayrshire Schools Band to perform at ‘A Song for SSAFA’ concert, raising vital funds for SSAFA.

The concert starts at 7:30pm at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock and will feature a 100 strong choir, including 30 members of the highly esteemed West of Scotland Military Wives Choir.

Alongside spectacular stand-alone performances from the Military Wives, the ‘A Song for SSAFA’ concert will also provide a unique opportunity to see 70 talented school choristers from the combined ‘Voices of Ayrshire’ Choir performing alongside them – showcasing the very best choral talent from across the region.

In addition to this, there will also be special performances on the night from the exceptionally talented and award winning North Ayrshire Schools Band.

‘A Song for SSAFA’ promises to provide a fantastic evening of entertainment for all the family, and hopes to raise urgent funds for SSAFA’s Ayrshire branch. SSAFA Ayrshire Branch Volunteer Fundraiser, Robert Wright, says: “We believe that A Song for SSAFA will provide an incredible opportunity for musically talented pupils in our area. The purpose of this concert, as well as creating opportunities for local young people, is to raise vital funds for SSAFA’s Ayrshire branch so that we can continue our essential support of the local Armed Forces community. There will also be special performances on the night from the award winning North Ayrshire Schools Band – so we are all in for a real treat.”

Tickets for ‘A Song for SSAFA’ are on sale now from the Kilmarnock Grand Hall Box Office - 01563 554 900 - and cost £15 each for adults, concessions at £10 and family tickets are £35.
