If you dream of having a brew with leading British actress Emma Thompson, catching up on the latest Game of Thrones drama with Arya Stark - Maisie Williams - herself, over a mug of char, or sharing a pot of ‘Rosie Lee’ with Twiggy, then now is your chance to get a little bit closer to making that dream a reality.
This June, twelve of the UK’s best loved celebrity faces have joined forces with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, to help reinvigorate the British public’s passion for a forgotten tea-time accessory… the humble tea cosy!
Each celebrity has taken the time to personally design their own tea cosy, which has then been expertly knitted and brought to life by SSAFA’s volunteer ‘army’ The Military Wives Choirs and other supporters.
The tea cosies will be auctioned on eBay, from Thursday 16th June until Sunday 26th June, alongside a signed, hardcopy of the original celebrity design, with all proceeds going to SSAFA.
The tea cosy auction forms part of SSAFA’s annual Big Brew Up fundraising campaign, which encourages friends, families and colleagues across the UK to hold a tea party from 20th-26th June to raise vital funds for SSAFA, which provides lifelong support to members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
Other celebrities who have designed tea cosies for the auction include Coronation Street star and SSAFA Ambassador Antony Cotton, Olympic Legend Rebecca Adlington, Channel 4 Explorer Levison Wood, TV personality Stacey Solomon, and BBC actress Lacey Turner to name but a few.
So, if you want to get your hands on your favourite celebrity’s personally designed tea cosy and raise money for a great cause, log on to the dedicated auction page now and get bidding:
SSAFA’s Celebrity Tea Cosy Auction is live from 8pm on Thursday 16th June until 8pm on Sunday 26th June, and includes a range of tea cosies from the following British celebrities:
Emma Thompson, Maisie Williams, Stacey Solomon, Rebecca Adlington OBE, Antony Cotton, Lacey Turner, Levison Wood, James Bowen and Bob the Cat, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, David Gold, Jacqueline Gold CBE, and Twiggy.
Antony Cotton, SSAFA Celebrity Ambassador says, “There is nothing I like more than sharing a cuppa and a chat with a mate, so I was delighted to design a tea cosy for SSAFA and help the charity reintroduce the nation to this fun tea break accessory.
“Our Armed Forces have dedicated their lives to keeping us safe and deserve all the support we can give them. I’d encourage everyone out there to pay a visit to SSAFA’s auction page now and get bidding to help SSAFA deliver vital support to serving personnel, veterans and their families.”
