Sponsorship from SSAFA the Armed Forces Charity has enabled the Lowlands Buccaneers Under 8’s to buy kit for their flourishing Junior Football Team.

This season marked the inaugural season for Lowlands Buccaneers Under 8’s Junior Football Club. The club consists of both military dependent and civilian children, local to RAF Waddington.

With SSAFA’s support and sponsorship, some fantastic kits were sourced for the children and they began to look the part.

The children have only been together a few short weeks and in that time were placed in the B league (out of three leagues in this age group), finding themselves outmatched in most of their opening fixtures.

Despite playing possibly the strongest team in the league, Ruston Sports, in the second match of the season and suffering a crushing defeat the children persevered with their training. Never downhearted, with continued support from their dedicated manager, Bryan Rundle they gradually became stronger and more tactically aware, finally managing to achieve an impressive draw of 2-2 on the return fixture!

The team are massively thankful to the support they have gratefully received from SSAFA, whose name they proudly wear on their shirts, advertising the great work that SSAFA do for the Armed Forces community.
