Laura Brown - Marathon Runner

A local Chippenham woman aims to raise £1,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in this year’s London Marathon.

Laura Brown, who will be running her first marathon, has a fundraising target of £1,000, but is hoping to smash that with the support of her family and friends, as well as future fundraising events.

Laura will be supporting SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, after the charity supported her and her family after she lost her father in 2005.

“I was only 10 when my Dad was killed in Iraq. My Mum reached out to SSAFA after his death when we needed support and guidance. They were always there for us when we needed them.”

“They helped us when I was offered a scholarship at Roedean School and assisted us with all the essential paperwork to apply for funding for transport costs. They were an amazing support network for us.”

“This is the biggest challenge to date and will be my first marathon, so it really means a lot to be doing it in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.”

Laura will be taking part in the London Marathon taking place on Sunday 28th April. If you would like to support Laura go to:
