Whether you want to push yourself to the limits by taking part in an epic hike, bike ride or marathon - or you’d prefer something simpler and more personal – you will be helping to support our Forces family when they need us.
Retired policeman Andy Seery has plans to take things to the extreme by walking, running and possibly crawling 1,500 miles from Birmingham to Warsaw, pushing a replica hospital bed!
To complete the challenge within his 42 day timeframe Andy, who goes by the alter-ego 'Mad Cop', will have to cover at least 36 miles a day. He says, "My family think I'm absolutely mad and do worry about the trip, but are very supportive.”
Closer to home, Mal James will be shaving her head to raise money for SSAFA as a way of saying thank you. Mal wanted to give something back after SSAFA supported her and her husband Jessie, who are both ex-forces, when Jessie lost his leg after getting an infection in Iraq.
Mal says, “This is my way of thanking SSAFA for being there for us when we needed them”.
Though the challenges may be completely different, the money that Andy and Mal raise will have the same positive impact on the lives of our Forces family.
Remember it doesn’t matter how you raise money for us, the most important thing is that you have fun while you do it! No matter how big or small, we love all your ideas, so get your thinking caps on and start raising money to make a difference to our Forces and their families.
If you have an idea let us know, our Community Fundraising team are here to help you make it happen.
