Jill Farrelly

Adoption Team Manager

Jill holds the Diploma in Social Work (1996) and the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work (2007). She has worked in a number of social work settings including working with adults and children with disabilities, working with young people who have special needs and as an Adoption and Fostering Social Worker.

Stephen Richards

Adoption Head of Service

Stephen qualified as a social worker in 1993 having started his career as a residential social worker in a home for adolescents in the mid 1980s. He has worked for a number of local authorities and voluntary sector organisations and has managed adoption services since 2003 as well as being the independent vice chair of an adoption panel. Before joining SSAFA, Stephen was an independent social worker for 4 years focusing on adoption work as well as taking on a broad range of other projects. 

Kathy Stubbs

Senior Social Work Practitioner

Kathy holds an undergraduate MA in Geography and Land Economy (1982); an MSc in Social Policy and Administration and CQSW (1987) and the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work (2004). Kathy has worked in a number of social work settings since 1982, with the main focus of her work being adoption both as a practitioner and as a manager; she has worked for SSAFA Adoption Service since 2007.

Rose Tiplady

Senior Social Work Practitioner

Rose holds a BSc (Hons) in Health and Sociology (2000); DipSW/ MA in Social Work (2002) and the Post Qualifying Award (PQ1) (2007). Since qualifying Rose has worked within the adoption and permanence teams in local authorities. She joined SSAFA Adoption Service in 2012.

Margaret Boyle

Senior Social Work Practitioner

Maggis (Margaret) holds a Diploma in Social Work and Higher Education (2001) and Post Qualifying Award in Social Work (2003). Prior to qualifying as a social worker she was previously employed in the welfare sector working in both children and adult services.  She started  her social work career with a Local Authority in the Permanence and Adoption Team where she remained for 6 years before  relocating  to  the Fostering service where she remained for a further 6 years. Maggis joined the SSAFA Adoption Services in April 2014.

Ronnie Kane

Senior Social Work Practitioner

Ronnie joined the team in April 2017 after working for a year as a Fostering Assessor. Ronnie qualified in 2008 with a BA hons Degree in Social work and has spent almost all his Social Work Career prior to joining SSAFA, with the charity Barnardo’s, Children’s Centres and a homeless young people’s project. Ronnie specialises with children who have additional needs such as ASD and ADHD and has written parenting workbooks on these topics.

Roger Blades

Senior Social Work Practitioner

Roger qualified as a social worker in 1984, and holds an M.Sc. in ‘Self-esteem in Social Work’.  After being a family centre manager in both Buckinghamshire and Plymouth, he became an Area Manager in Devon and then Torbay. In his time, he has investigated complaints, chaired fostering panels and inspected residential child care services. Before joining SSAFA, he worked for eight years as a post- adoption social worker for Devon County Council.

Hannah Caitlin

Senior Social Work Practitioner - Post Adoption Support

Hannah holds a BA (Hons) in Social Work and completed the Social Work Academy through Hertfordshire County Council in 2013. Hannah has since worked in Children’s Service, in areas such as referral and assessment, family support and most recently as the sole social worker in a large Contact Support Service. Hannah is trained in PAMS and has significant experience in completing assessment work.

Sarah Tarry

Adoption Panel Administrator

Sarah studied for a BMus (hons) degree in Music, graduating in 2009. Following this she went on to work in HR in the Third Sector for a number of years and during this time obtained a Foundation Certificate in HR Practice. Sarah joined the Adoption team as the Administrator in July 2017.
