What is Armed Forces Week?
Armed Forces Week begins on Monday 24th June and continues through to Armed Forces Day held on Saturday 29th June.
This is a special week of events and activities held up and down the country, where we, the British public, can show our appreciation and support of the British Armed Forces community.
SSAFA would like to invite you to join us in supporting our serving men and women in uniform, our veterans and our cadets, and all their families. We are running our Big Brew Up events up and down the country alongside our regular fundraising events. And at the beginning of the month on the 2nd June, we are hosting the Armed Forces Day Hike - a family friendly event with 3 separate routes: a relaxing 7 mile trek, a 13 mile half-marathon route and a full 26 mile marathon hike for the adventurous.
What is Armed Forces Day?
SSAFA is incredibly proud to be the official main charity sponsor of this year's Armed Forces Day national event, hosted by Wiltshire County Council in the historic city of Salisbury.
On this day Salisbury will host a parade through the city, demonstrations from our Armed Forces, and displays of military equipment both old and new. We hope you can join us for this special day, but wherever you are in the country, regional events are also being held.
This is the ideal opportunity for you and your family and friends to have both a great day out as well as to acknowledge and support the sacrifices and dedication of our Armed Forces community, and the protection they provide to our country and our values.
Why support SSAFA during Armed Forces Week?
SSAFA supports serving personnel, veterans and their families every day. From housing and financial advice to specialist mentoring and advocacy services, SSAFA has been looking after our military men, women and families for over 130 years.
Yet each year we are faced with an increasing demand for our service and so we have a real need to make more people aware of the vital support we give. You can read more about some of our individual success stories here.
By showing support for SSAFA and spreading the word, you can help raise awareness of our wide range of critical services. You can also play a key role by encouraging new supporters, volunteers and beneficiaries to get involved with SSAFA.
