Q: Does SSAFA provide support with inter-country adoption?

A: SSAFA does not provide inter-country adoption services, but please contact us to speak to one of our Social Workers who will be able to explain the process to you. This may be different depending on your circumstances and where you live. For general guidance, take a look at our guide to inter-country adoption.

Q: What if my adopted child has additional needs and we are posted overseas?

A: If you are considering adopting a child with complex or significant health, learning or disability needs it is important to consider that, while the Ministry of Defense strives to provide support and facilities for personnel and their dependents who have complex or significant needs that are comparable to those in the UK, it may not be possible to achieve this in some postings.
