Increasing mental health awareness in the Forces community

Armed Forces Mental Health First Aid

SSAFA is proud to be a partner in this award-winning project to deliver specially designed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to the Armed Forces community.

The MHFA iniative plays an important role in increasing mental health awareness throughout the Forces community.

We are delivering the project in a collaborative partnership with MHFA England CIC, Combat Stress and the Royal British Legion.

What's Mental Health First Aid?

MHFA teaches people how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health problem. This course has been specially created to increase mental health resilience amongst veterans and the families of both veterans and serving personnel in the UK.

The project will initially train approximately 180 instructors who will deliver training to approximately 6,600 Armed Forces Community Mental Health First Aiders.
