WING COMMANDER KIRSTY BUSHELL: SSAFA, THE ARMED FORCES CHARITY VICE CHAIRMAN
Wing Commander Kirsty Bushell, 47 from Kilmarnock joined the RAF in 1987 directly from school and served for 24 years.

Kirsty’s first posting as part of 41(F) Squadron was in the UK and Germany as an Intelligence Officer. She then moved on to work in Europe, America and British Forces Cyprus, before returning to the UK to oversee personnel and welfare service.
As a personnel support officer, Kirsty was responsible for the welfare, infrastructure management, communications and HR for multiple RAF bases. She retired as a Wing Commander in 2011.
Kirsty became Vice Chairman of SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, in July 2012. Her role sits across all committees of council for the charity to ensure that volunteers are represented and that the strategic future of the charity is mapped out.
She has been married for 21 years to a serving Air-Vice Marshal and they reside in Marshfield with their two sons.
