St Vincent's Care Home
Set in its own spacious grounds near Ryde on the Isle of White, St Vincent's is a residential care home that provides excellent facilities for its 25 residents.
Residents find that life at St Vincent’s means that coming into care is not an end to normal life but rather a new opportunity to enjoy life to the full whilst receiving the care and support that they need.
The Home
St Vincent's is a fine Victorian house combining many features from the house's history with necessary alterations that enable the building to operate as a care home. As a result of a major new extension, completed in 2008, the home can now accommodate 25 residents in their own single bedroom with en-suite bathrooms.
The home consists of 6 bedrooms on the lower ground floor, 5 on the ground floor and 14 on the first floor. There is a large passenger lift which enables easy access to all rooms. All rooms are furnished to a very high standard and have modern safety features fitted which include a 24 hour carer call system and smoke detectors. All rooms have a TV point and residents may have telephones at their own expense. To achieve as homely an environment as possible, residents are encouraged to personalise their own rooms with their possessions.
Residents can choose to relax or entertain guests in any of our two comfortable lounges or in the reception area which has an open fire place. There is a large, well decorated dining room with a tea bar and the main lounge has a bar facility which is open daily. Other facilities include a Residents Information Area and a training and activities room.
St Vincent’s enjoys spacious landscaped gardens which can be easily accessed and include various seating areas. Within the estate there are also 13 two bedroom bungalows and 5 one bedroom apartments, purpose built for men and women with mild disabilities.

The home is situated within easy access of the town of Ryde which has various shops, services and a library. Links with the local community are encouraged.
Activities are arranged following discussions at residents meetings. This allows residents to raise concerns and for local information to be passed on. We have regular entertainment in the home such as games, sing-a-longs and quizzes. There is also a plentiful supply of books, DVD's and games. Residents are encouraged, and assisted where practicable, to pursue their hobbies and interests, either in the home or by use of local facilities.

Outings are frequently arranged by the home and local organisations. Travel to and from these is in the home's minibus which, adapted for wheelchairs and other disabled requirements. It is also available for shopping trips, visits to doctors and other journeys. The home also has an adapted car.
Visiting
Families and friends are welcome to visit at any time convenient to the individual resident and to become involved in the daily routine and activities of the home, if the resident wishes. Residents are also encouraged to continue to visit friends and relatives and any organisation which they are involved in.
We respect the wishes of each individual as to whom they want to see or not.
Application and assessment
We recognise that anyone considering residential care should have the opportunity to choose a home which suits their personal needs and abilities.
Before making this decision, we advise personal visits whenever possible and encourage prospective residents to visit the home with their families and if possible spend some time with other residents and staff.
Prior to admission, to ensure that the home can meet the needs of a prospective resident, an application form is completed and an assessment of care needs is undertaken. Suitable applicants are then invited for a 2 week assessment stay before a decision on acceptance is made.
Fees
Fees vary according to the care needs of the resident and the room chosen. The fee will be decided following an assessment of the resident's needs and the selection of a room. Please contact the Manager directly to discuss fees.

SSAFA provides adequate public liability and personal cover insurance.
