Ways of Giving
Every day, SSAFA helps men and women who are serving or have served in our Armed Forces. And we are there for their families too. But our work is only made possible through the generous donations we receive from people like you. Here are some of the ways you can help us to support our servicemen and women and their families, when they need us most.

Regular giving
If you would like to support us with a regular gift, you can set up a direct debit. This method is simple and convenient since you decide how much and when you would like contribute. Regular gifts provide us with guaranteed income that we can rely on, so helping us to plan for the future. If you're a UK taxpayer, don't forget to complete the Gift Aid section.

Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a unique and easy way for you to give to charity. If you earn a salary and wish to donate on a regular basis, your agreed donation is deducted from your gross pay before tax.
You benefit because you do not pay any tax on the donations you make. If you are a basic rate taxpayer, a gift of £5.00 only costs you £4.00. If you are a higher rate taxpayer it will cost you £3.00 to donate £5.00. So SSAFA gets more and it costs you less! The Payroll Giving scheme is very flexible. It allows you to change the amount you donate from month to month or week to week, depending on how often you are paid.
If your employer already operates this scheme, you just have to let your payroll department know that you would like to participate. Give them details of how much you want to donate and they sort out the rest. But if your employer does not offer this scheme, why not suggest that they introduce one - it is easy and inexpensive to run. Your employer can contact the Charities Aid Foundation on 01732 520 019.
Share Giving
Do you have one or a thousand shares and don't really know what to do with them? Why not donate them to SSAFA? Giving shares as part of your charitable donation has benefits. You can claim tax relief on the value of most shares donated.
