The Row2Recovery team of four injured service personnel and two able bodied rowers touched down at their final destination of Port St Charles, Barbados yesterday afternoon. The exhausted group overcame numerous challenges including a lack of water, technical difficulties, injury complications and extreme weather on their 51 day, 3,000 mile epic journey. There were emotional scenes as they greeted family and loved ones at the port with Sir Cliff Richard stopping by to welcome them in.
Lt Will Dixon, who lost his lower leg in an IED blast in December 2009, said: “It’s been an incredible journey. But what has driven us on is the thought of those who have fallen and been severely injured. We hope to have inspired some of them by proving it is possible to achieve extraordinary things after injury."
The group are aiming to raise £1 million to be distributed between three Armed Forces charities – SSAFA Forces Help, Help for Heroes, and ABF The Soldiers' Charity. Already at over £700,000, you can help them achieve this goal by visiting here
