Armed Forces Day

On 2nd July, Perth hosted one of the biggest Scottish Armed Forces Day parades of 2010, in conjunction with celebrations to mark Perth's 800th anniversary.

More than 1,000 Army, Navy, Royal Marine and Royal Air Force personnel, veterans, cadets and members of youth organisations paraded through the city centre. The salute was taken by HRH the Earl of Wessex, who was accompanied on the dais, by our President, HM Lord Lieutenant, Brigadier Mel Jameson and by the Provost of Perth & Kinross, our Patron, Dr John Hulbert.

Four pipe bands and two military bands accompanied the parade and a variety of military vehicles from World War II took part, as did some of our SSAFA Branch members, who proudly wore their SSAFA sashes.
